Alaska

When I think of Alaska, I think of the beauty of God's creation.

Northern Lights

We have relatives that live in Alaska.

Some live in Ketchikan.  It is a wonderful place to live and raise your family, especially if you love to fish and hunt, like our nephew who owns Dalin Charters.

Our 23 year old and 11 year old sons went to Alaska with their Dad and Grandpa last Fall.  Here are a few pictures of their adventure.  And it was an adventure.  Our nephew was great with our younger son.  He helped him get set up, so he was able to take down a bear with one shot, all by himself.  (Sorry, if you don't like the idea of hunting.  Truthfully, I'd rather see a bear living and breathing myself, but that's me). Our 23 year old son is close to his cousin , and had already spent a lot of time enjoying the hunting and fishing in the area, getting a bear a couple of years ago.

Fishing with Pops

What a great trip for fathers and sons.

Heavenly creations is the darling florist and gift shop our niece owns in Ketchikan.  Pictures to come.

Okay, Alaska family, I know you're out there, and I know you have many great places to eat, and enjoy Alaska, so share with us.  Please.  You know who you are.  Oh, and tell your friends.

  1. Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau Alaska is a favorite summer stopping point to view the bears! Last year we saw a mama and THREE cubs - a rare occurrence (normally they only have 1-2 cubs). We also spend a lot of time at DIPAC Fish Hatchery. The kids love the touch tanks and I enjoy the various aquariums. A favprotect place to eat is a little hole in the wall - CHAN'S Thai Kitchen in Auke Bay right by another fav

  2. Hi Valerie, I noticed your picture of Alaska on Facebook and it caught my eye because I will be going on a cruise to Alaska with family in June. I am planning on doing a seaplane tour in Ketchikan through the cruise ship excursions, but I was wondering if you or any of your relatives know of a private company who could do a better price.
    I enjoyed your pictures!

    Hi Wendy,
I'll ask my nephew. He seems to know everyone in Ketchikan. A cruise to Alaska sounds like lots of fun, and I've heard the food is fabulous, too.

  4. Thanks, Kyleswife. I think I heard your Dad talking about the Waffle Shop when he was here.

We live in Juneau, Alaska which is the capital of Alaska. One of our favorite activities is pretending to be tourists along with the other tourists when the numerous cruise ships arrive every day during the summer. We walk downtown enjoying the shops and the capitol building. We can also ride the tram, which gives a great view of our beautiful town!

Our favorite treat shop is Tasty Treat Frozen Yogurt! Jenna calls it "the shop"!
